Emergency Stop

An emergency stop, also known as an E-Stop, immediately causes a “hard” stop to the machine by halting the controller's sending of control signals to the motor driver.

However, it is important to note that using only an E-Stop is not a sufficient security solution when using servomotors. The E-Stop alone does not prevent the machine from crashing if the encoder starts to send faulty data to the motor driver. For a full-proof security solution, a double prevention system should be used, such as incorporating relays that disconnect the power supply to the motors in addition to using limit switches as reference switches when the E-Stop signal is triggered.
