How to connect motor drivers

PlanetCNC motion controllers can be used with servo or stepper motor drivers that support STEP and DIRECTION signals for position control.

STEP and DIRECTION signal naming can differ from one driver manufacturer to another.
Usually they use following abbreviations:
STEP → PUL → PULSE
DIRECTION → SIGN

Motor driver with opto-isolated inputs using COMMON CATHODE method

Motor driver with opto-isolated inputs using COMMON ANODE method

When common anode method is used, user needs to enable Invert option for dedicated axis under: File/Settings/Motors/Axis Output n → enable Invert

Motor driver with line driver inputs

Motor driver with differential inputs

Motor driver with error output

To enable Error input user needs to enable Enable option:
File/Settings/Input&Output/Error Pin

Motor driver with isolated error output in high impedance state

Motor driver with isolated error output in low impedance state

When this type of connection is used user needs to enable Invert option under:
File/Settings/Input&Output/Error Pin → Invert

Motor driver with error output in high impedance state

Motor driver with error output in low impedance state

When this type of connection is used user needs to enable Invert option under:
File/Settings/Input&Output/Error Pin → Invert
